Testimonials

Laura has made our sessions feel very comfortable without any judgement. You can tell that she really cares about you on an individual level and takes time to get to know you and your struggles. I am able to express myself freely without bias, and receive genuine feedback on any progress made, along with how to cope with setbacks, and how to continue moving forward.

My sessions with Laura were very productive. Although it was online, I never felt the distance. They were calm and reflective sessions. I left with a deeper sense of awareness of self. She is a very kind and accessible counsellor, willing to do pro bono work if it means helping others. Would highly recommend.

I met with Laura at a very exciting yet challenging time in my life. I was at the peak of my career after being promoted to a senior role and was having difficulty balancing my professional and personal responsibilities, especially being a single mom of two. My therapy sessions illuminated feelings and opinions that were at the root of my problem such as guilt, trying to be all things to all people, and not recognising it was ok to say no, and understanding my limitations. We also explored different methods I can incorporate in my lifestyle to help me cope better. Since our sessions, I now have a self-care routine which allows me to carve out time just for myself. I also dedicate Saturdays to my kids regardless of what is going on which reduces the pressure of trying to squeeze in time during the week at evenings. I also ensure we eat dinner at evenings together as a family which allows me to give my kids my ear to avoid missing out on important matters. I have also adjusted my work schedule and understand that it is ok to not be “perfect” at all times. I let non-urgent tasks wait until the next day as opposed to trying to complete everything the same day. After 3 tears of not having a vacation, I am now scheduled to spend 2 months vacation with my kids for summer where we will be visiting Walt Disney World. I contribute this achievement to my sessions with Laura. She helped me to slow down before I “crashed” mentally. It is comforting knowing I have someone I can speak to if and when it is required.

The most impactful instances with our sessions is the feeling of being listened to and understood. There was not one moment where I felt my concerns and my experiences were not valued. Laura creates a safe and calming atmosphere which allows me to open up and reflect on events and things I never would have realized on my own. Having a strong understanding of Caribbean culture has most certainly helped as others in her field without just can’t relate. I 1000% recommend Laura to anyone seeking help or feels imbalance in their lives. I’ve become so much more level headed and balanced in terms of managing my busy career and my personal life.

In the brief time I have been meeting with Laura, she has helped me to transform my life. While facing changes in my career, immigration status, personal life and overcoming the social challenges of being a foreign worker, Laura has always given me practical and thoughtful advice. She’s taught me solution based thinking and emotional regulation I didn’t think I was capable of. A trustworthy, down to earth yet professional confident. Anyone looking to grow as a human being specifically if you are of Caribbean heritage in a different nation should contact Laura.

If you are used to being the listener, then you know how exceptionally great it is to be heard and for someone to hold space for you. The services provided from Laura’s therapeutic practice are amazing. From my meetings with her thus far, sessions have been far more helpful than I ever expected.

What has been most impactful for me during sessions is that for the very first time after years of searching for a therapist I feel truly seen and heard as a Black Caribbean woman. Laura’s pragmatic way of applying knowledge, understanding, and lived experience of Caribbean history supports my journey in a beautiful way. Being able to talk openly and explore my spirituality in therapy has been a game changer! I feel like I don’t have to always be explaining myself or hide parts of who I am because Laura gets it! I would recommend Laura and the work she does at her private practice Inner Work Healing because it truly is inner work - she supports healing from the roots. It feels grounded and rooted and not like she’s citing textbook tool and strategies. In 3 months of Inner Work Healing therapy so far, my nervous system is calmer and calming down! I feel safe, seen, and heard. Thank you!

Before starting the sessions I wasn’t sure what to expect. I didn’t think coaching around my business would be included; this was a pleasant surprise. As it was impacting my mental wellbeing in a big way. Laura’s approach and understanding has helped me to relax and build more trust as the sessions progress as honestly, I was afraid of being judged and would go into sessions telling myself to hold back on certain things. However, Laura’s energy, understanding of Caribbean culture/history and her personal experiences got me to open up more than I expected. She respects my beliefs; in fact she encourages me to be more open about it and she researched it to have a better understanding. That meant a lot! Tears, laughter, light bulb moments and confirmations. I am truly grateful for these sessions. I would definitely recommend Laura’s services as she is a prime example of a safe space for Caribbean people to start their healing process. The stigma around therapy for Caribbean people has been a stumbling block and part of the reason why there are so many hurt people out there hurting people and going through life broken and unable to tap into their full selves!

Working with Laura has been truly impactful for my business. Our sessions touched on both the practical and mindset side of things, which made a huge difference for me. On the practical side, she guided me through setting up groups, presenting offers, adjusting my prices, and finding creative ways to gain visibility. On the deeper side, she helped me make a real distinction between the therapist and the business woman - something I had been struggling with for a long time. Thanks to her support, I feel myself stepping more into my business woman shoes with confidence. She also encouraged me to see the importance of investing time and energy into visibility, communication, and even diversifying my income in ways that I genuinely enjoy. I’m really grateful for these sessions - they’ve been super beneficial, and I look forward to having more.

The sessions have been very informative and helpful as I go with a transition in life. Knowing there is a safe place to speak and that my concerns and viewpoints are acknowledged and treated as important along with ways to manoeuvre through the thoughts or issues was of extreme importance to me. To add the level of privacy and discernment granted, since unfortunately that is not granted in the Caribbean communities. Thank you a thousand times!
